Les idées sympas de William Walker pour amuser les chiens dans la chaleur de l'été

William Walker Sommer mit Hund

Now that summer is on the way, many of us are wondering what we can do with our dogs. The increasingly warm days invite us to spend a lot of time outdoors. However, it can quickly become boring to walk the same route day in and day out. That's why we've prepared some great outdoor activities for you and your furry friend!

Together on the Move - Sporty Outings with Your Dog

Inline Skating Tour

If your dog loves to run long distances by your side and you enjoy inline skating, why not combine both your interests and go on a joint outing? Newly constructed cycling and hiking paths often have very smooth asphalt, allowing you to skate without problems. It’s an ideal tour that challenges both you and your dog physically!

Bike Tour

Depending on your dog’s fitness level, a joint bike ride can also be a nice outing. As long as your four-legged friend can run beside your bike without running into the wheel or becoming short of breath, there’s nothing stopping you. Of course, you should ensure that you ride at a pace your dog can comfortably keep up with. If your dog isn’t very fit, a bike trailer can be a good option. In it, he can be transported during the tour or take a break in between.

Nature Outing with Your Furry Friend

Hiking

If you enjoy long walks and have a bit more time on weekends, a hike through previously undiscovered areas is a great option. Public transport can quickly get you to a new place where you can explore many new trails and enjoy nature. A real day trip that pairs wonderfully with a picnic!

Picnic

If you and your dog aren't big fans of physical activities, a shared picnic is just right for you. It can also be a great way to recharge during sporting activities. For the picnic, you can prepare some special treats that your dog doesn’t get to enjoy very often; frozen fruit pieces, for example, are a fantastic refreshment for warm summer days. But also delicious dog biscuits or a dog muffin will delight your furry friend. Of course, don't forget a bottle of water so you can withstand the warm temperatures. This way, you can enjoy the nice weather together in a shady spot to the fullest.

Keeping a Cool Head - Dog Training in the Sun

Search for Treats

If your dog enjoys mental challenges and is a big fan of treats, you can move the sniffing training outdoors. You can hide treats in small crevices and gaps of trees, in the tall grass, or behind rocks, and then encourage him to search with the command “Search.” If he is already an advanced sniffer, you can hide the treats so that he doesn’t see you doing it and then let him go on a search. Our William Walker Treats are not only healthy and incredibly delicious, but they are also perfect for search games with your dog!

Agility Training

In agility training, your dog is supposed to complete a predetermined obstacle course as quickly and correctly as possible on your commands. The obstacles can include small hurdles, tunnels, ramps, or similar things. This can be easily set up in your own garden. With a bit of imagination, you can also create great agility tracks in the woods. However, if you lack the materials or would like to train with others, there are dog sports clubs in almost every city that offer agility training.

Playing Frisbee

If your dog loves to play and is quite fit, then a frisbee disc might become his new favorite toy. When throwing the frisbee, your dog can channel all his energy into quick sprints and skillful jumps. You can also practice basic commands like sit/stay and recall or fetch during this activity. This way, not only is your dog's body challenged, but his mind is too. There are special dog frisbees that, unlike regular frisbees, are chew-proof yet slightly softer, preventing injuries while catching and being gentle on the gums.

The Only True Refreshment for You and Your Dog - Into the Cool Water

Swimming Fun with Your Four-Legged Friend

What could be better than cooling off on a hot summer day? If your dog is a fan of the cool water, swimming is certainly the highlight of any outing. Choose a route for your next outing that leads to a nice lake or a calm river and allow your dog and maybe even yourself to splash around. Fetching with a toy or stick makes the bathing tour perfect and can be combined well with the activities mentioned above!

We hope that you found some outdoor activities for you and your four-legged friend or that we were able to inspire you for your next outing, and we wish you many beautiful summer days in the fresh air! Feel free to leave us a comment about your favorite outdoor activity or send us photos of your splashing four-legged friends. We look forward to the hot days and your experiences!
